The Adam Gilchrist’s, Sahid Afridi’s and the Dhoni’s of the world are going to have huge competition. Subhas Chandra of ZEE TV announced the formation of Indian Cricket League (ICL), a parallel cricket league at the national levels. So now all cricketers who could never make it to the national team will have something to look forward to. If things work out just fine, newer talents will emerge out of the country like never before. Initially there will be six teams in the league and each team will have sixteen players.

The team members will comprise of four international players, and two players who are either playing for India or have played for India in the past. Budding cricketing talent from all over the county will be provided a platform here. So all you cricket enthusiasts here is the chance for you cricket enthusiasts out there to go out there and show to the world what you are capable of.

Goals:

• 6 teams to play in the 1st year
• Executive Board of ICL to come up soon
• Panel of referees and umpires to be set up
• Rules committee to come up with regulations
• Designated Personnel to look after player grouse
• ODI format will follow the initial T20 format of the leagued
• Teams to be coached by former India players
• Negotiations underway with BCCI for getting access to stadiums
• Teams to have 8 aspiring players, 4 foreign players and 2 Indian players
• Teams to have media manger, physiotherapist, a psychologist and mentor.
• Winner Prize Money 1 million USD
• Teams to compete with international teams
• Strength of team to grow from 6-16 in 3 years.
